We love what we do at BridgeBrazil. Our friendly staff are always available to help you make the most out of your Portuguese program and your time in Rio de Janeiro.

Our Portuguese teachers have been specially trained in Bridge’s communicative methodology. They are selected for their outgoing and dynamic personalities, their patience, creativity, friendliness and most importantly, for their experience and enthusiasm in teaching.

  Raquel Ferreira

  Raquel was born in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. She studies Linguistics at UERJ, a highly prestigious University of Rio de Janeiro. She is known by her friends as a happy person, because she smiles all the time and is very friendly. Her biggest dream is to travel around the world and she’s already visited two countries and she says this is only the beggining! Besides this, she started to teach at BridgeBrazil in March 2013 and she is just fascinated with her job as it offers her a great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and to teach the brazilian culture.

  Marilia Derenusson

  Marilia is carioca and lives in Laranjeiras. She has bachelor in Tourism and is currently studying Portuguese and Brazilian Literature. She previously worked in tourism where she would also teach clients English and soon after realized that teaching was her real passion. She then decided to specialize in Portuguese as a teacher.

  Now Marilia has been teaching for many years and besides working at Bridge, also teaches in many oil companies in Rio. She likes to go out during the weekends to enjoy what this beautiful city has to offer, meet friends, get to know new places, travel and read books.

• Fernando Gregores

  Fernando has been teaching Portuguese and English at Bridge since 1999. Fernando studied law for two years but stopped and fell in love with language teaching and started his Bachelors degree in languages at Universidade Veiga de Almeida. He loves literature, music and sports and in particular MMA, so much that he was a manager for Brazilian fighters travelling to Russia. A very nice guy that is a carioca at heart and knows the Cidade Maravilhosa inside out!

  Eliane Campos

  Eliane is from Aiuroca, in the state of Minas Gerais. She has a BA in Portuguese from Unicamp, one of the best Universities in the world. She also went on an international masters program to get her Masters degree in European Literacy Culture from Université de Haute-Alsace and Università di Bologna.

  Eliane loves to read and be in contact with different cultures and has a passion for languages literature and education. Eliane says she is always learning from her students and life.

  Patricia Mariano

  Patricia was born in Rio and graduated in Portuguese and Literature at UFRJ, among Brazils most prestigious Universities. She also specialised in Brazilian literature at UERJ, another major University in Brazil.

  Patricia first worked as a Portuguese teacher at elementary and high schools. Her first time teaching Portuguese to foreigners is with us at Bridge and she has loved it ever since.

  Antonio Castro

  Antonio graduated in languages majoring in Portuguese at the highly respected UFRJ. Great with languages he also worked as an English teacher for over two years in Curitiba. With a interest in travel and an undying lover of fine arts, Antonio also enjoyed an interchange program in India, for workshops in Cinema.

  Gabriella Vieira

  Gabriella graduated with a degree in language, majoring in Portuguese, from the prestigious UFRJ. She has already enjoyed 1 year abroad, teaching Portuguese to foreigners in dynamic Mexico city, where she also learn’t Spanish.

  Gabriella loves to be involved in cultural programs especially the theatre, cinema, museums and street sambas. Also, Gabriella loves to make the most of the carioca sun at the beach or the beautiful waterfalls Rio has to offer.

  Paloma Brandão

  Paloma majored in Portuguese and Spanish at UFRJ, one of the best Universities in Brazil. With over a years teaching experience in Spanish and Portuguese, Paloma has been very excited since arriving at Bridge. Paloma is a “Flamenguista” at heart (Passionate Flamengo supporter) and loves playing football, enjoying the carioca nightlife, the cinema, the arts, music and is a professional actress who’s participated in several plays and even small roles on Brazil’s famous novelas.

  Cristiane Feitosa

  Cristiane graduated in Portuguese and Literature at the two most prestigious universities in Rio: UFRJ and UERJ and also specialized in children and teenage Literature.
  In her free time she reads, travels and makes new friends. She has loved the experience of teaching Portuguese as a foreign language since she joined our team in 2006.

  Jorge Ramalho

  Jorge is a carioca who lives in Flamengo, in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro. He has a bachelor degree in Portuguese and Education and has been teaching languages for more than 20 years. He was also a coordinator at one of the most prestigious schools in Rio.
  Now, besides teaching here every morning, he teaches English to executives at many multinational companies. His experience makes him one of the most loved teachers at BridgeBrazil. Students love him for his patience and energy.
